Receiver Operating Characteristic analysis using ROC curves can be perceived as a decision support tool in the evaluation of alternative diagnostic tests. Moreover, ROC analysis can also be used to train and compare diagnostic capacity by medical doctors, in particular, in medical Intensive Care Units. Thus, ROC analysis can be an important contribution for hospital performance evaluation. Other fields of application of ROC analysis are orthodontics, musical arts, algorithms performance. Some of the ongoing work in this project is concerned with the theoretical development of performance measures as well as the comparison procedure. A new software application that provides the most usual performance measures associated with ROC curves is under development.
